$39 Billion Dollars Lost to Digital Thieves
I was shocked when I read that $39 Billion dollars are being lost to people illegally passing around software and digital products. Staggering isn’t it?
You’re probably thinking to yourself, this is people stealing from big companies like Microsoft and Apple. Well, the answer to that is yes and no.
There are lots of people who buy software and then pass it around to all their family and friends to install on their computer.
While this does definately happen, digital piracy goes way beyond this one example. In fact, it has become a major problem for anyone delivering any kind of digital information such as eBooks, videos, pdf files, word documents, MP3’s and a whole lot more…
In the same article, the author showed a simple chart outlining the lost sales of a $97 product over the course of a year. The amount was staggering… Over $50,000!
The author did assume a couple of variables for that example, but still, even if it was one tenth of that it is still alot of money.
A lot of money being stolen from your business.
